Reading Time: 3 minutesIt was about two weeks ago when I finished my first year of my Master’s degree in Marketing, I walked out of the last exam in a fast pace because I was going to meet Fernando Moreira from Angry Ventures. My objective during the last few months was to get a summer internship. And not just a regular, vulgar one.
After a very peculiar meeting – it wasn’t an interview – I knew it right away, I needed my summer to be spent there. “Are you sure you want to spend these three months here?” Fernando asked me multiple times. Of course, I did.
Guess what? Here I am!

On the next day, it was when it all began. I admit I was a little terrified when I was put “in charge” of a good amount of different projects which I had no idea what they were about. After a little introduction, we were told “desenmerda-te” – which is an expression that can’t be translated perfectly into English, but it’s essence is to “figure your sh*t out by yourself” – and that’s exactly what we did.
Our new colleagues couldn’t have been more understanding and welcoming, which made it easier for us three newbies at the office. Even on the way home at the end of the very tiring first day, we couldn’t stop shouting ideas for our new projects.
Now switching to a more specific topic, I’ve learned through my academic years in the Marketing area, that the most important Marketing tool nowadays is most likely the company’s website. Content marketing is highly important for us Millenials especially, for we are information seekers, we go search information about everything and anything we want. And we also need to be entertained in order to catch our attention.
There are tons of times when I look at some online shopping website and think “I would do much better“, “only if this website would look much more appealing“. Well, now is the time to see what I can do with a real-life website, of a real brand. One of the projects I’m working on is to create an e-commerce store and a super hot brand DNA almost from scratch – a big challenge, and it has been the most exciting one because we want to make it unique and the most engaging as possible.
It goes from making a market analysis to choosing what products we’re going to sell (by dropshipping), building a social media strategy, 24/7 brainstorming and to check all the legal restraints. It’s a really satisfying busy feeling and time flies when we get super invested on it.
I can’t really wait to see this “baby” grow up when it gets up and running all over the online world.

This is going to be my first summer not fully spent in the sun, back home in Algarve. I’m satisfied with going to Carcavelos once a week and getting a sun tan only on my face and arms while on my way to work/home; because right now, this year, my summer is going to be a new and completely out of the ordinary venture. And I know it’s going to be one of the best summers I’ve ever had, where the word ‘angry’ just got a whole new meaning.
